EXAMPLES OF CONTRIBUTIONS TO HIGHER EDUCATION
• Contributed to the establishment of the Department of Translation at the 'Open Learning Centre’ at Damascus University through authoring and/or co-authoring 6 core textbooks. (2002-2006).
• Contributed to the establishment of ‘the Higher Institute of Translation and Interpretation’ at Damascus University in collaboration with the Higher Institute of Interpretation at the University of Mons (Belgium). The project involved putting down the bylaws, designing curricula, and establishing quality control of three MA programs in Translation, Interpretation and Audio-Visual Translation. (2003-2006).
• A Representative of the faculty of Education at Damascus University in the UNDP Project on the ‘Enhancement of Quality Assurance and Institutional Planning at Arab Universities’ which involved producing an evidence-based Self Evaluation Report and hosting an external peer review committee. (2005- 2007).
• A Review Specialist in the UNDP Project on ‘Enhancement of Quality Assurance and Institutional Planning at Arab Universities’ and a team member in the peer review committee of two Education Programs in two Arab Universities: The University of Jordan in Amman (Jordan 2005) and the Arab Gulf University (Bahrain 2006).
• Contributed to the workshop run by the UNDP Project on ‘Enhancement of Quality Assurance and Institutional Planning at Arab Universities’ in Amman (Jordan) and reviewed the ETS exam on Education (2007).
• National Director of the UNDP project on the ‘Implementation of Higher Education Strategy and Upgrading of Business Administration Programs’. (January 2007 – June 2007).
• Collaborated with Warwick University in the UK and contributed to the establishment of the MA Program in ‘Applied Linguistics’ . (2006- 2007).
• A Tempus – ‘Higher Education Reform Expert’ (HEREs) 2010-Present.
• Supervised numerous MA students’ research exercises in TEFL, Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Assessment and Evaluation and Educational Management.
• Supervised and a member of the validation panel of several MA dissertations and PhD theses.
• Coordinated the process of program accreditation of the Applied Linguistics Program at Prince Sultan University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and contributed to the preparation of all NCAAA accreditation documentation.
• Proposed a new track for the Applied Linguistics Program at Prince Sultan University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and redesigned the study plan to include two tracks: one for TEFL (teaching English as a Foreign Language) and one for ELP (English for the Professionals). (2015-2016)
• Awarded the HEA (Higher Education Academy) Fellow Certificate (2015-2016).
• Nominated for the 'Rector's Best Teacher's Award' by the students of the College of Humanities at Prince Sultan University (2017-2018 .
